Job Posting: Electrical Estimator

About Your Opportunity:

The Electrical Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for electrical scopes of work on a wide range of projects, including commercial, healthcare, senior living, education, and industrial facilities. This role will collaborate with the preconstruction and project management teams to ensure timely, complete, and cost-effective estimates that align with Wohlsen’s standards of excellence.Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed quantity take-offs, cost analyses, and estimates for electrical systems (power distribution, lighting, low-voltage, fire alarm, etc.) across various project types.

  • Review design documents, specifications, and drawings to determine electrical scope requirements.

  • Solicit and analyze subcontractor and supplier pricing, ensuring coverage of all electrical components.

  • Identify value engineering opportunities and evaluate alternative design solutions to optimize project costs.

  • Collaborate with preconstruction, MEP, and operations teams during budgeting, bidding, and project award phases.

  • Assist in the development of conceptual estimates and early-phase budgeting for clients.

  • Stay up to date on market trends, material pricing, and labor productivity to ensure accurate forecasting.

  • Participate in client presentations, proposal development, and project interviews when needed.

  • Maintain organized records of historical costs and completed estimates to support future projects.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Construction Technology, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 3-10 years of construction experience with a solid understanding of construction management, architecture, or engineering.
  • Knowledge of MEP systems and controls, including various HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and electrical systems.
  • Working knowledge of building codes
  • Ability to read and understand MEP drawings and specifications.
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation for remote offices and job sites.
