Position Overview:
The Volunteer Liaison seeks out and onboards community members who will share their talents, resources, and time as volunteers with refugee youth. The individual in this role will support, enhance, and grow new and existing partnerships for volunteers.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment and onboarding of Volunteers:
- Post and manage volunteer opportunities on sites like Volunteer Match, JustServe, and HandsOn; research and add new platforms as needed.
- Recruit volunteers through outreach, presentations, and relationship building
- Conduct phone screenings and verify background checks for volunteer applicants, ensuring
- Maintain understanding of program needs through collaboration
- Observe gaps that could be filled by volunteers and suggest new opportunities as appropriate
- Maintain and update profiles in volunteer database, save and track all confidential electronic onboarding paperwork
- Host orientations for new volunteers
Support of Placements & Activities:
- Provide excellent customer service for volunteers, conduct appreciation opportunities, serve as liaison for questions and concerns
- Attend RYMP activities/events that involve volunteers, as needed
- Recruit special event volunteers to support activities, as needed
Data reporting:
- Maintain data for monthly agency program data report and any contractual/funding sources.
- Import volunteers into the database, Virtuous, and maintain up-to-date information on volunteers.
- Conduct satisfaction surveys and exit surveys to improve processed based on feedback
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a minimum of one year of relevant experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
- Understanding of volunteer management; experience with faith communities, civic groups, and school groups
- Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations helpful
- Provide and maintain a current Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card, clear the Department of Economic Security Central Registry Background Check and a criminal background and motor vehicle screening
- Maintain a valid AZ Driver’s License, a clear driving record and reliable transportation for the duration of employment
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work with diverse communities, faith leaders and congregations.
- Understanding and appreciation for a philanthropic culture and faith-based non-profit agencies
- Ability to conduct all activities with a commitment to the organization’s mission and strategic plan; focus efforts to inspire a client-centered approach to quality service delivery and operational excellence; uphold all policies and procedures
- Ability to support, strengthen and build cross division support and partnerships within LSS-SW
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to sit or stand for long periods.
- The employee frequently is required to use hands to hold objects and operate office equipment
- The employee is required to be able to listen and communicate effectively
- The employee may be required to occasionally lift and/or move 25 pounds
