NE04Position Summary
This position delivers exceptional customer service to all students, faculty, members and guests. The Service Desk Attendant is responsible for performing retail operations and providing a clean, safe, and friendly environment for all patrons.MAJOR DUTIES
- Greet all students, faculty, members and guests in a professional and courteous manner.
- Create new member accounts, verify current accounts, and assist in maintaining HHPC records. Enter data in point of sale system in a timely and accurate manner.
- Accept and process all HHPC payments efficiently and accurately. Count, balance and reconcile register drawer, including deposits and credit card reports.
- Process locker rentals, ID’s, membership holds, and program registrations. Answer customer’s questions and provide accurate information regarding services and policies and procedures in a professional and courteous manner.
Perform facility and equipment cleaning duties, including operation of commercial washers and dryers.
- Promptly and politely answer phone calls, direct to the appropriate person and take detailed messages.
- Ensure all communication is in a polite and respectful manner.
- Train and mentor new employees.
- Monitor activities in the HHPC lobby and enforce policy.
- Monitor check-in’s and issue equipment.
- Flexible schedule to assist with shift coverage on short notice
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION
- Knowledge of quality customer service standards.
- Knowledge of SJC and HHPC policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of business and cash management practices.
- Knowledge of best practices for working with the public.
- Knowledge of proper handling of hazardous materials.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Skill in dealing with difficult customers.
- CPR/AED certified, training provided.
SUPERVISORY CONTROLS
The supervisor assigns work in terms of somewhat general instructions which may require some judgment. The supervisor spot-checks work while in progress and once completed for compliance with detailed and specific instruction as well as, procedures, and accuracy of the work.

The Guidelines include HHPC Policies, San Juan College Employee Handbook, ADA regulations, and other college and program policies and procedures. These guidelines are clear and specific in their application
COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK
- The work consists of routine customer service duties, operational support and cleaning duties. The variety of customer needs contributes to the complexity of the position.
- The purpose of this position is to provide quality customer services, a clean, safe and friendly environment, sell memberships and associated goods, and process daily transactions.

- Contacts are typically with co-workers, other college personnel, faculty, staff, students, and members of the general public.
- Contacts are typically to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT
- The work is typically performed while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light objects.
- The work is typically performed in an office. The employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease, contagious or infectious diseases, or irritating chemicals. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves etc. The employee is exposed to noise and machinery with moving parts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to read, write and perform mathematical calculations at a level commonly associated with the completion of high school or equivalent.
