Investigative Analyst (Sworn)


Are you ready to take your career to the next level? We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Investigative Analyst to join our team at the La Paz County Sheriff's Office. This is your chance to be part of a department that values innovation, collaboration, and excellence.


Under minimal supervision of the Sheriff or designee, the Investigative Analyst performs work of considerable difficulty in the investigations division. Crime analysts identify patterns and gather helpful data that can be used to help command personnel better allocate resources, including patrol divisions, detectives, and other assets. They play a crucial role in helping detectives further criminal investigations by reviewing police reports, data, and crime trends to gather important and relevant information.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Use a variety of resources, including crime mapping technology, computer-aided dispatch, police reports, and contacts with other professionals.
  • Look for trends and provide answers to issues puzzling police in real time, helping law enforcement better prepare.
  • Locate times and areas where particular crimes or a range of criminal activities are occurring, helping law enforcement plan their manpower needs.
  • Gather and analyze crime statistics and produce reports.
  • Develop intelligence, advise police commanders, and identify criminal trends, including emerging problems.
  • Research long-term problems and present response strategies.
  • Assist in intel gathering and tracking of crime trends and analysis.
  • Perform follow-up investigations related to sex offender compliance and registration.
  • Gather information and present reports to command staff or designee.
  • Appear in court to give testimony.
  • Attend training related to analysis techniques.
  • Support all divisions of the Sheriff’s Office personnel as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Position Duties
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask effectively. They should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The ideal candidate is also proficient in using crime mapping technology and computer-aided dispatch systems.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
  • Arizona P.O.S.T. Certified.
  • Arizona Driver License.
  • United States Citizen.
