The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land & Water, is recruiting for an Engineering Associate in Anchorage, Alaska.
What You Will Be Doing:
This position supports the Geodetic Surveyor in managing and maintaining the Alaska Continuously Operating Reference System (ACORN), a Real Time Reference Network using Global Navigation Satellite System (CORS/RTRN GNSS). The role involves building and maintaining CORS stations, configuring and maintaining the Real Time Network (RTN) infrastructure, and coordinating with other state, federal, and Canadian RTN administrators. The position performs advanced engineering tasks to address and resolve complex technical issues, provides hardware and software training to network users, and develops and maintains professional relationships and outreach with onsite contacts, RTN IT staff, and various stakeholders. This position is also responsible for training and outreach to network users and various stakeholders.

The Survey Section provides surveying services to manage and maximize the use of more than 100 million acres of state-owned land. Boundary disputes, easement vacations, subdivisions, and development of state land all require the professional services of the DNR Land Survey Section.

Position DutiesEight years of progressively responsible work experience in engineering, land surveying or architecture, of which one year was as an Engineering Assistant 3 with the State of Alaska, or the equivalent elsewhere.
Substitution:
ABET accredited college or technical school courses in engineering, architecture, land surveying or a closely related curriculum may be substituted for the non-specific required experience (3 semester/4 quarter hours equal one month). A bachelor's degree with a major in engineering, architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET may substitute for four years of the non-specific required experience.
