UPMC Somerset is seeking a dedicated and skilled Occupational Therapist to join our rehabilitation team. This role offers a dynamic mix of acute care and outpatient therapy, providing services to a diverse patient population. The ideal candidate will bring expertise in hand and upper extremity therapy, CVA rehabilitation, and work hardening/FCE evaluations, with a passion for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, reassessments, and treatments for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Develop and adjust individualized plans of care based on physician referrals, patient needs, and clinical findings.
- Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants and collaborate to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation including initial assessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
- Communicate effectively with referring physicians and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient status and progress.
- Provide home exercise programs and education to patients and families.
- Participate in clinical education by supervising students from affiliated academic institutions.
- Rotate through treatment areas as needed to support organizational needs.
- Attend and contribute to staff meetings and in-service education programs.
- Maintain professional licensure and pursue continuing education to stay current with best practices.

- Graduate of an accredited program approved by The Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE)
- Experience or strong interest in outpatient occupational therapy, particularly:
- Hand and upper extremity rehabilitation
- Stroke (CVA) recovery
- Work hardening and Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE)
- Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
- Active license in practicing state required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
- CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
- National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Occupational Therapist (OT)
- Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
