Reports to:                           Associate Director – Part Time – up to 15 hours per week

Position Summary: The Food Pantry Coordinator provides and/or coordinates operations of the Food Pantry on days of service. As a representative of our agency, it is important that all staff provide outstanding customer service and approach all tasks in a safe and efficient manner. A strong work ethic, and a professional friendly, proactive approach is required.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Monitors nutritional groceries to supplement the nutritional needs of people living with HIV/AIDS
  • Pickup and delivery of Food Pantry items, including loading and unloading and stocking shelves
  • Ensure that HIV/AIDS specific nutritional information is available at the Food Pantry
  • Maintains collaborations with organizations that support the mission of Food Pantry
  • Assists the Program Assistant with trainings, schedules, and oversight of Food Pantry volunteers
  • Maintains a clean and welcoming environment in the Food Pantry
  • Assists in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as needed
  • Attends department meetings, supervisions, in-services and training and special events as required
  • Learn/share pertinent information with co-workers

Qualifications


Qualifications: Must have current and valid Colorado driver’s license; must be able to pass driving record check per CHN insurance requirements. Must be able to maneuver a vehicle in tight loading areas, Familiarity with Colorado Springs metro area. Knowledge of safe lifting techniques and ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly. Must be able to be insured by CHN driving and liability insurance companies.  Ability to prioritize tasks and function independently, as well as show leadership when training new volunteers. Possess the ability to share workload, creative ideas, and actively participate in a team environment. Must be able to work in a diverse setting with diverse populations, including persons living with HIV, the LGBTQ+ community, persons of various ethnic backgrounds, disenfranchised communities. Knowledge of nutritional needs for people living with HIV/AIDS with required trainings.  

 

Requirement: The position is required to successfully complete the ServSafe Food Handler Course and Exam and view the following training videos: Driver Safety During Deliveries, Winter Weather Driving, Manual Material Handling and Back Safety, Back Injury Prevention, Back Safety and Injury Prevention.

 

Education: High School diploma or GED. Experience in a similar capacity, preferably in a nonprofit setting working with diverse populations.

 

Knowledge, Skill and Ability: Excellent communication, client relations and management skills. Highly organized and detail oriented. This position requires personal and professional accountability; self-management and initiative; dedication to quality improvement, professional integrity and research ethics and cultural competency. Knowledge of food insecurity and food systems.

 

Material and Equipment Directly Used: Works with standard office equipment including computer work station, printers, copiers, scanners and fax machine. Works with word processing software and spreadsheet applications. Communicates with clients and vendors using the telephone, e-mail, the Internet, and fax.

 

 

 

 

 

Physical Demands and Work Conditions: Ability to sit, walk, stand, stoop, crouch, crawl, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. Ability to climb stairs. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as boxes, tables, and reach overhead. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on a hard surface. Moderately strenuous activity associated with packing, lifting, sorting food and groceries.
