Job Summary:

         
 Responsible to follow a schedule of assignments for food preparation, serving, and cleaning of kitchen and equipment.
 
Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Demonstrated ability to accomplish the major duties listed below
  • Knowledge of sanitation and food handling regulations or willing to undergo on the job training or attend classes to gain that knowledge
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Positive public relations skills.

 
Major Duties and 'Responsibilities:

  1. Perform such school-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  2. Perform all duties in compliance with sanitation and food handling regulation.
  3. Responsible for safe, proper and efficient use of all kitchen equipment including grinder, mixer, ovens, dishwasher, steam kettle, slicer, etc.
  4. Prepares food according to planned menus and follows recipes without deviation.
  5. Ability to establish priorities, work independently as well as be a team player.
  6. Responsible for the daily cleaning of the kitchen, serving area, and dish room including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing.
  7. Responsible for major cleaning of all kitchen equipment including but not limited to refrigerators, ovens and storerooms at regularly scheduled intervals.
  8. Responsible for the serving of food as well as oversee and guide student helpers in a supportive and encouraging manner.
  9. Participate in all promotions/theme days, etc. which are designed to improve kitchen/student relationships and increase participation.
  10. Attend classes, training and meetings pertaining to school food services.
  11. Know and follow district policy and chain of command.
  12. Deal with students, parents, staff, and others in a positive, encouraging manner.
  13. Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.
