26 - Custodian - Lead Custodian at Belton Middle School

SUMMARY:  Sees that the district’s buildings are kept in such a state of operating excellence that they present no problems or interruptions to the educational program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES:  Other duties may be assigned.  

•  Counsels and instructs assigned custodians, verbally or in writing, of job performance responsibilities.

• Demonstrates established cleaning procedures and monitors that procedures are being followed.

• Observes safety procedures in carrying out assigned tasks.

• Responsible for the cleanliness of assigned building and the job performance of assigned custodians.

• Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment.

• Cleans and preserves designated spaces, equipment, etc., in the building.

• Performs ongoing preventive maintenance and minor repair to plumbing and custodial equipment. 

• Performs normal operator adjustments and service to facility operational equipment.

• Assists visiting public utilizing the facilities with directions within the building or in obtaining and setting up needed equipment and/or materials.

• Assists outside maintenance with shoveling snow and maintaining grounds.

• Assists the Custodial Director in scheduling and assigning extra time for custodians.

• Maintains building and grounds security by locking the building each school day as required.

• Works overtime when required.

• Assists in the evaluation of assigned custodians.

• Assists the building principal in preparation of work order requests for repairs and maintenance.

• Performs all duties and responsibilities required on the “Custodian” job description.    

• Regular and dependable attendance.
