Overview
Our client, a respected organization in the public sector, is seeking a proactive, high-impact Director of Procurement. This leadership role is a temp-to-perm opportunity and would be ideal for a seasoned procurement professional with a strong background in government procurement, change management, and strategic leadership.
Compensation is $80 - $90 per hour, open to relocation for the right candidate. The ideal candidate would currently reside in the Southeastern U.S. (Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, North or South Carolina).
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all procurement and inventory operations, including purchasing, contract administration, surplus property, and materials control.
- Develop and implement procurement policies and procedures ensuring legal compliance, financial accountability, and operational efficiency.
- Oversee the P-Card program and ensure effective training and compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Drive change management initiatives to modernize procurement practices and systems.
- Provide strategic direction and mentorship to procurement staff.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align procurement strategies with organizational goals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Public Administration, or a related field.
- 4–7 years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, preferably in a government or public sector environment.
- Demonstrated experience in change management and leading organizational transformation.
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage complex projects, and influence cross-functional stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, public procurement regulations, and inventory management systems.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Certifications
- Certified Public Procurement Officer (CPPO)
- Certified Professional Buyer (CPPB)
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM)
Additional Requirements
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
- Valid Driver’s License (Class D or equivalent).
