Our client is a family seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and empathetic female to join their team as a Weekend Direct Support Mentor. This part-time position based in Marion, Iowa, and offers a schedule 2-3 weekends a month with a split shift of mid-day and overnight on Saturday to mid-afternoon Sunday—ideal for someone who is reliable, encouraging, and values routine with flexibility.

Work Expectations & Schedule Details (Weekend Direct Support)
- Weekend Schedule Commitment:
- 2–3 weekends per month preferred.
- Opportunity for additional hours and pay with weekday or weekend coverage.
- Estimated Hours: Average of 25 hours per scheduled weekend, depending on coverage needs and availability.
- Shift Details:
- Saturday (Day): 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM (4 hours)
- Saturday (Evening): 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM (4 hours)
- Saturday (Overnight): 9:00 PM – 6:00 AM (9 hours)
- Sunday (Day): 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM (8 hours)
- Overnight Shifts:
- You are not expected to stay awake during overnight shifts. You are paid to sleep during the 9 hours of the overnight shift to ensure the safety and well-being of the client.
- Compensation:
- Pay is $16-18/hour, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer companionship: Be a positive, attentive presence—available for light conversation, simple outings (like a short walk or community event), or creative activities that encourage connection and wellness.
- Mentorship & emotional support: Provide gentle encouragement, reassurance, and respectful support that fosters confidence and personal growth.
- Promote healthy living: Model and support wellness routines including nutrition, physical activity, and self-care.
- Support weekend routines: Assist with basic daily living needs such as light meal prep, reminders for personal care, or tidying up.
- Adapt to community happenings: Stay responsive and flexible to evolving plans, special events, or downtime based on the client’s energy, interests, or community calendar.
- Ensure overnight safety: Be present during overnight shifts, following safety protocols and offering support as needed if the client wakes or needs assistance.
- Documentation: Record brief progress notes and relevant information to support ongoing care and communication.
- Team collaboration: Partner with the family and existing support team to ensure a consistent, empowering environment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- References: Professional references required.
- Lifestyle & Mindset: A genuine commitment to healthy living, wellness, and a positive, encouraging outlook.
- Experience: Familiarity with supporting individuals with sensory and processing sensitivities is helpful but not required.
- Gender Requirement: Must be female, as specified by the family.
- Communication Skills: Strong in empathy, patience, and active listening.
- Adaptability: Able to adjust to changing needs and celebrate the client’s unique progress and goals.
- Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a criminal and caregiver background check.
- Mentorship Experience: Prior experience in mentoring, coaching, or direct support roles is preferred but not essential.
