Adapted Sport League Coach

POSITION TITLE:  Adapted Sports League Coach

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Teachers and Other Staff Members.

• Special Education teachers.

• Paraeducators/teacher assistants.

• Persons who are motivated, qualified, and have knowledge of sports specific seasons.

• Significant knowledge and experience working with students with disabilities is a prerequisite.

REPORTS TO:  Activities Director/Building Principal

DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT:  Seasonal: during the season the sport they are coaching is running (6-8 weeks).

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:

• Work under the direction of the Activities Director.

• Supervise and coordinate the volunteers for your team.

• Supervise team after school before game starts. 

• Travel with the team to away games.

• Be knowledgeable in the areas of physical and emotional health and safety.

• Adhere to the co-curricular code and other rules of the school.

• Communicate regularly with Activities Director and Administrative Assistant.

• Prepare for end-of season award banquets. 

• Keep current to the appropriate coaching methodologies.

• Hold practices or compete at least 2 days per week.

• Keep inventory of equipment and assist in the ordering of equipment and supplies.

• Provide informational sessions for parents and players.

• Follow all Board of Education policies and administrative regulations.

• Model appropriate behavior as per district policies.

• Trained in First aid, CPR, AED,  and bloodborne pathogen per district guidelines.

• Promote and communicate activity on a regular basis. (e.g. website, newsletter, meetings, e-mail list, etc.).

SALARY:  Per Adapted Sports League Budget

EVALUATION:  Evaluated by Activities Director.
