2024-2025 After School Assistant - Part-time: Providence Catholic Childrens Academy; New Lenox, IL

Job Description
After School Care Assistant must enjoy working with young school-aged children. They are responsible for:

• Ensuring safety of all children in the program
• Signing children in upon arrival and out when they leave
• Creating an enriching, fun, and safe environment
• Planning activities
• Interacting positively with children and their families
• Working independently as well as with a team

The candidate must have a positive attitude and serve as a role model to participants in the program. This position is ideal for someone who is willing to work a few hours in the afternoon, is creative, child oriented, responsible, and dedicated.
 
Requirements
This person must be available to work:

• After School:
  • Monday thru Friday – 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm
  • This is a part time, unbenefited position.
  • After School Care meets on regular school days when school is in session.

 

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
• Protecting God’s Children Certificate and Background Check are required.
• A background in early education and/or college courses in recreation education is preferred but not required.
• Childcare work experience is preferred but not required.
• Other training may be required after employment begins.

 
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards

• Work in standard office and school building environments.
• Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to walk up and down multiple flights of stairs on a regular basis.
• Physically able to perform the duties as assigned including the ability to lift up to 20-30 pounds if needed.
