Position Summary:
Responsible for providing integrated primary care clinical support functions which may include patient preparation, support of health care providers, laboratory procedures or preparation, facilitating care messages, and supporting clinic operations in a manner that promotes quality patient care. Act as liaison between front office, back-office care teams and providers to ensure timely and orderly patient flow and information exchange. This position encompasses clinical support functions provided in clinics, virtually or in community-based settings.
The hiring range for Medical Assistant I is $21.67 - $28.35. The hiring range for Medical Assistant II is $24.50 - $31.08. Earn an extra $1.00 per hour on top of the regular hourly rate for Float Medical Assistant. The full range for this position is $20.00 - $31.08 per hour. Compensation is dependent on skills and experience.

Your contribution to the team includes:
Float Medical Assistant
- The float MA will work throughout various HealthPoint locations to provide coverage for Medical Assistant shortages as well as providing additional support with other assigned duties.
- Responsible for monitoring and staying current on daily schedule
- Must be flexible and able to adapt to multiple clinic environments and patient populations while maintaining a high level of professionalism and quality patient care.
Medical Assistant
- Responsible for lab coverage when necessary and all duties associated with lab coverage (proper labeling and recording of specimens, running controls, completion of control sheets and lab equipment maintenance).
- Provide in-clinic NextGen training and shadowing of new Medical Assistant staff, including Medical Assistant I, Lab Medical Assistants and Medical Assistant Extern students.
- Assigned to be the NextGen Super User for the medical back office
- Room and prepare patients for exams including chief complaint and vital signs and request reports needed for patient care.
- Document accurately and thoroughly patient information into the electronic health record
- Review and update as necessary patient demographic, medical history, social history, pharmacy, allergy, medications, and immunization information
- Provide assistance with patient exams, minor surgeries and medical procedures.
- Responsible for adherence to clinical processes and procedures based on Medical Practice Standing Order policies established by HealthPoint.
- Prepare and maintain exam rooms, laboratory area and lavatory with supplies before the start of the day, at the end of the day and as needed throughout the day.
- Demonstrate a commitment to collaboratively working with providers on meeting clinic goals and measures.
- Perform in-house lab testing including but not limited to, venipuncture, hemoglobin, rapid strep, urine chemstrips, microscopic, wet mounts, blood glucose and pregnancy tests.
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including, but not limited to, injections, vaccinations, EKGs, spirometry, audiometry, and nebulizer treatments.
- Provide instructions to patients on the use of medications, home care and general health information as directed by the provider.
- Provide phone triage support for patient appointments, respond to patient calls including back up for STAT calls.
- Provide telephone refilling of medications. Record medication refills in patient charts. Follow up with patient on prescription refills.
- Provide accurate lab test results by phone or mail to patients as directed by provider.
- Complete diagnostic and referral forms according to HealthPoint procedures.
- Print daily the IIS immunization report to assist with prep for MA’s.
- Sanitize used equipment with appropriate sterilizing techniques.
- Provide liaison between front office and providers ensuring timely and orderly patient flow throughout the clinic.
- Follow established procedures for opening and closing the clinic each day.
Must have’s you’ll need to be successful:
- Certificate from accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Minimum 6 months Medical Assistant experience and demonstrated leadership.
- NextGen experience.
- At time of hire, must possess an Active Washington State Medical Assistant Certification or Interim Certification.
- Maintain current certification/licensure as a Medical Assistant in Washington State.
- Ability and willingness to work evening hours and Saturdays.

Proof of vaccination for COVID-19 is required, prior to start. All new employees are also required to show proof of immunizations and/or immunity to MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, annual Influenza and TB QuantiFERON Gold Titer. Additionally, if you work in a HealthPoint clinic, Tdap (within last 10 years) is required. Hepatitis B. is required for clinical employees with potential exposure to blood/blood products. All immunizations are a condition of employment. Upon hire, employees must provide proof of their immunizations and/or immune titer results prior to starting or no later than their fifth (5) business day of employment.
