Description
The Unit Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of an assigned unit within the assisted living community. This position ensures quality resident care, compliance with state regulations, effective staff coordination, and smooth communication between residents, families, and team members. The Unit Coordinator acts as a leader and support to caregivers and nursing staff, fostering a positive environment that promotes resident dignity, safety, and well-being.
Qualifications
Key Responsibilities

Supervise, coordinate, and support caregivers, medication aides, and other unit staff to ensure delivery of high-quality resident care.

Assist with scheduling, shift coverage, and staff assignments for the unit.

Serve as the primary point of contact for residents and families regarding unit concerns, updates, and needs.

Collaborate with nursing leadership to ensure compliance with all Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) assisted living regulations.

Document and report any changes in resident conditions to nursing staff and/or the Administrator.

Conduct rounds to monitor resident safety, staff performance, and quality of care.

Assist with new resident admissions, orientation, and integration into the community.

Support training and mentoring of new team members.

Promote a positive and respectful environment for residents and staff.

Assist in maintaining accurate unit records, logs, and reports as required.

Participate in care conferences, staff meetings, and ongoing quality improvement initiatives.
