About this job

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provides food, water, and basic husbandry care for a variety of animal species as trained by the animal care technician.
  2. Cleans and sanitizes cages according to prescribed standards.
  3. Observes animals on a daily basis to assess health, environmental conditions, and social environment, and advises the animal care technician if any problems or critical health observations occur.
  4. Maintains lab, storage areas, and treatment rooms including sweeping and mopping floors as needed
  5. Watering of greenhouse plants as needed and observing aquaponics system for any possible problems. Feed fish if necessary.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  7. Must be reliable, dependable, and detail-oriented.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled as a student at Ithaca College
  • Prior experience handling small rodents is preferred, but not essential
  • Preference given to students majoring in Biology, Biochemistry, or ENVS
