JOB TITLE – Host
DEPARTMENT – The Roof
REPORTS TO – Guest Relations Manager
SUMMARY
The Host is the first point of contact for guests at The Roof Restaurant and plays a critical role in setting the tone for the dining experience. This position is responsible for providing a warm welcome, managing reservations, organizing seating, and ensuring smooth guest flow throughout the dining room. The Host must be professional, friendly, and attentive while maintaining strong communication with servers, bussers, and management. The ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal skills, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is committed to delivering outstanding hospitality that reflects The Roof’s standards.
JOB ENVIRONMENT
Primarily works indoors in a high-volume, upscale dining restaurant environment. Requires extended periods of standing and walking, frequent guest interaction, and the ability to multitask under pressure. Must be comfortable working evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands include bending, carrying menus or supplies, and moving quickly in a crowded dining space.
SKILLS, EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
• Previous hosting or customer service experience preferred, but not required
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a guest-first mindset
• Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Team-oriented and able to collaborate effectively with service staff
• Professional demeanor and appearance
• Must be punctual, reliable, and adaptable to changing shift needs
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, setting the tone for their dining experience
• Manage reservations and waitlists using the restaurant’s seating system
• Escort guests to tables and communicate seating details to servers and bussers
• Monitor guest flow and adjust seating plans to maximize efficiency and guest satisfaction
• Collaborate with servers, bussers, and runners to ensure seamless service transitions
• Assist in maintaining cleanliness and organization of the host stand, menus, and entry area
• Understands and embraces our workplace culture, works as a team player, and follows all company policies
COMPENSATION
$17.00 - $18.00/hour. This range is inclusive of multiple job levels. Salary to be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to evaluation of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with market data.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS
· May be required to work outside of regular business hours, including weekends, early mornings, and holidays, to accommodate business needs
· Takes on additional duties as required or assigned by management
