Summary

The Lab Billing Specialist works under the supervision of the Lab Director. Responsible for Referral Lab clients and other physicians' offices to provide guidance and support for the Lab caregivers within Mosaic Life Care Clinics and Laboratory. Reviews and corrects billing for Referral clients and hospital patients. Serves as resource person to lab processors and other departments for billing and ordering inquiries. Assists in writing procedures as needed

This position works under the supervision of Team leader and is employed by Mosaic Health System.

Duties

Calls on Referral Lab clients and take telephone inquiries concerning services. Researches and interprets standards for office labs and advise clients.
Maintains laboratory billing accuracy by: Manually adding Anatomical Pathology (AP) charges from Mayo and NeoGenomics, Reviewing billing manager reports for tests without charges, Monitoring miscellaneous charge work queues to manually add charges for miscellaneous tests, Works with other clients (nursing homes, etc.) on charges and invoice disputes.
Reviews Referral Lab charges and billing and verifies reference laboratory invoices for accuracy before being processed by the hospital and contacts these labs regarding any discrepancies noted.
Researches CPT codes and request new Hospital Biller (HB) charges to be built when necessary.
