GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the direct supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor and/or Director the position will be responsible for performing landscaping tasks using power equipment and hand tools to maintain the camp grounds and also various cleaning supplies and equipment to assist in building upkeep.  This position will involve regular use of a weed eater, leaf blower, rake and sanitation equipment.

KNOW HOW

• Previous experience preferred.
• Ability to operate various types of power equipment including weed eater, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, wood splitter and backpack sanitizer.
• Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
• Ability to use cleaning supplies and equipment.
• Ability to assist with basic maintenance repairs.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Weed-eating and grounds maintenance as assigned.
• Trim bushes, shrubs and hedges.
• Assist with basic janitorial tasks as needed.
• Assist with basic repair tasks as needed.
• Assist with trail and pond maintenance.
• Assist with tree cutting and removal.
• Assist with delivering fire wood. 
• Performs other related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to walk, stand or bend for prolonged periods, stretching, pushing, pulling or kneeling.
• Ability to operate a weed eater.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Ability to push/pull up to 100 pounds.
• Ability to work in a variety of environments (i.e.  indoor, outdoor, summer heat and cold).

MEMBER INVOLVMENT

• Acquaint guests with other camp programs and benefits.
• Develop relationships that promote the building of small communities.
• Recommend participation in a variety of camp programs.
• Support our camp annual campaign, and invite guests to participate.
• Be able to articulate the role and importance of volunteers.
• Be informed about volunteer opportunities.
• Provide an environment in which valuing diversity is encouraged.

EFFECT ON END RESULT

• Provide grounds/facility that is well-maintained, welcoming, safe, friendly and supportive.
• Maintain Center and equipment in a clean, safe and appropriate manner.
