Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced First Class Sheet Metal Workers for projects located in the Newport News, VA area. This is a first shift opportunity and the pay rate is $27.31/hour based on experience plus $140/day per diem for travelers 60+ miles from the job site. Job Scope:
- Installation of foundations, ventilation, bulkheads and shipboard furniture
- Sheet metal fabrication shop work
- Comprehend complex ventilation, assembly drawings, blueprints & sketches to include weld symbols, material, types, datum and reference lines
- Layoff piece parts for fabrication and assembly
- Assemble piece parts in accordance with specifications in a quality manner
- Use small hand tools electric drills grinders rivet guns and shop equipment drill press press break Shears etc
- 3+ years of experience as a First Class Sheet Metal Worker
- Ability to read complex ventilation drawings, blueprints, and sketches (including weld -
symbols and material types) - Proficient with fractional and decimal dimensions
- Skilled in fabricating and assembling parts according to specifications
- Experience in physically demanding environments
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations for shipbuilding
- Experience using hand tools, electric drills, grinders, rivet guns, and shop equipment (drill
press, press brake, shears, etc.)
