About the Department
Knowledge of:
Periods of mobility with light and heavy physical activity.
Physical Activities:
Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, reach, carry, grasp and turn objects; Ability to climb stairs; and stand, sit and walk for up to 60 minutes at a time; Acceptable verbal and conversation skills to effectively communicate with others.Minimum QualificationsEducation or Formal Training and Licenses:
Prefer formal or informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
Experience:
Prefer individuals who have some experience with adults and teens in an educational or recreational environment as well as knowledge of the sport or activity they are coaching or leading.
Other Qualifications
This is a volunteer position that will assist the Durango Library Adult Services Department with special programming.
Position Duties- Prepare and clean up a special program.
- Welcome and help participants throughout the program by answering questions, teaching or giving feedback on activity.
- Work with library staff to plan special events and series.
- Hold participants accountable to the Durango Public Library code of conduct.
- Clearly lay out all expectations for the program participants.
- Arrive to program at the assigned scheduled time.
- Care for all equipment, supplies, and facilities.
Knowledge of:
- Operations, services, and activities of a Durango Public Library program.
- Prior experience leading programs or teaching.
- Appropriate techniques for dealing with conflict resolution and disputes.
- Reasonable discipline.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
