Job Title: Outdoor Pursuits Snowcat Operator 
Department: Outdoor Pursuits 
Location: Homewood Mountain Resort 
Reports to: Outdoor Pursuits Director 
Employment Type: Part-Time Seasonal 

Job Summary 

This role is responsible for operating snowcats and tracked vehicles to safely transport guests, and staff to mountain and backcountry destinations while creating extraordinary Outdoor Pursuits experiences. The Snowcat Operator also assists with on-mountain project support, guest activities, and safety operations, all while embodying Homewood’s values of exceptional guest service, teamwork, and fun. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Embody and promote Homewood’s culture of exceptional guest service, teamwork, innovation, sustainability, and fun. 

  • Safely operate snowcats and tracked vehicles in and outside resort boundaries for member and guest transportation. 

  • Support the daily execution of Outdoor Pursuits activities and Cat Skiing Tours, including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, and guided tours. 

  • Demonstrate and train others in safe practices during activities. 

  • Assess risks and make decisions to maintain a safe environment for members, guests, and staff. 

  • Assist with grooming, backcountry access, and on-mountain project support. 

  • Safely operate ATV/UTV on mountain trails as needed. 

  • Assist with snow removal as required. 

  • Attend departmental meetings and training sessions. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications


Skills and Qualifications 

Required: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties: 

  • Current AED, First Aid, and CPR certifications (or ability to obtain prior to start). 

  • Proven experience as a Snowcat / Tracked Vehicle Operator. 

  • Ability to operate safely in off-piste and backcountry terrain. 

  • Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and courtesy. 

  • Commitment to professional appearance, positive attitude, and guest-focused service. 

  • Must be at least 18 years old, legally able to work in the U.S., and meet criminal background standards. 

Preferred: 

  • Previous professional experience in the ski resort or outdoor recreation industry. 

  • Familiarity with Outdoor Pursuits programming and guiding. 

Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

  • 2–5 years related outdoor operations and snowcat operating experience preferred. 

Physical Demands & Working Conditions 

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme weather conditions including cold, wind, snow, and high elevation. 

  • Comfortable operate equipment in high alpine environments and challenging weather conditions. 

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; frequent lifting, carrying, bending, and prolonged periods of standing or moving. 

  • Must be able to hike moderate distances (2–5 miles) in variable terrain. 

  • Long or irregular work shifts may be required, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. 

  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a high-functioning team in dynamic outdoor settings.

Wage Range $28.00 - $32.00
