Job Title: Customer Service Representative
Department: Operations
Hiring Range: $19.00-$20.00/hr. depending on store location, merit, and employee experience (may be eligible for pay increase after 90-day probationary period)
FLSA: Non-exempt (eligible for overtime)
DOL Status: Full-time and part-time available
Reports to: Store Manager
Scope of Responsibilities:
The Customer Service Representative (CSR) is a non-exempt (hourly employee who receives overtime) employee who reports to a Store Manager; are customer focused; and provides professional and courteous customer service.
Job Requirements:

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Ring up all sales on cash register properly and accurately, handling money and other types of payment received for products sold.
- Provides Greeting upon customer entering and exiting the store.
- Upsells store products and promotions.
- Informs customer about 7-Eleven’s 7-Rewards program and its benefits.
- Provides prompt, courteous customer service, handles complaints quickly and tactfully.
- Uses suggestive selling techniques to maximize sales, while maintaining excellent customer rapport.
- Accounts for all monies and makes safe drops as instructed.
- Follows cash handling procedures to prevent losses.
- Perform job duties safely; follow all safety rules and policies.
- Perform multi-function operations of POS (register), credit card machines, money order machine, and any other equipment used for operations.
- Perform cleaning duties necessary to maintain site cleanliness inside and out; basic upkeep and/or cleaning of all equipment on the site.
- Assist in maintaining proper inventory levels and shift closeouts.
- Perform all duties with minimal supervision and may be required to work irregular work hours, attend job-related meetings and other duties as assigned.
- Comply with Retail cleanliness, grooming and uniform policies and standards.
- Notify store management of any observed dishonesty by customers, vendors, or store employees; follows vendor check-in procedures; follows Company policies for confronting shoplifters.
- Completes all required orientation and training.
Physical Essential Functions:
- Ability to stand and/or walk for an entire shift.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds from ground to overhead for up to 30 minutes of workday (i.e., assisting in stocking/maintaining inventory levels) with appropriate safety equipment.
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 60 pounds from ground to waist level as needed (i.e., to replenish fountain and/or Slurpee syrups).
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds from ground to waist level for up to 30 minutes of the workday (i.e., stocking/maintaining inventory/cleaning/trash bag removal).
- Ability to occasionally push and pull with arms up to a force of 20-40 pounds (i.e., utilizing a hand-truck or cart).
- Ability to occasionally bend at the waist with some twisting up to one hour or workday.
- Ability to occasionally grasp, reach and manipulate objects with hands up. (This work requires eye-hand coordination and may require bilateral coordination of hands for up to 4 hours of workday).
- Ability to occasionally climb a ladder to store or retrieve merchandise, etc, and/or place or remove signs.
Working Conditions:
- Employees perform approximately 95% of work indoors.
- Be exposed to intermittent indoor cold temperature extremes when working in walk-in-cooler or freezer.
- Be exposed to intermittent noise (i.e., cash register, food equipment, telephone, gaming machines, etc.)
- Work in small spaces at times.
- Depending on store conditions and shifts, work alone.
- Work with minimal direction and periodic supervision.
Equipment, Tools and Materials:
- Employee utilizes the following electronic equipment: Telephone, POS (cash register), Money order machine, Food grills, Hot case(s), microwave machine, chili/cheese machine, coffee, and cappuccino equipment, etc.
- Employees utilized the following manual equipment: Flat card, hand-truck, grocery basket, rubber gloves, mop, broom, and cleaning materials such as degreaser, defoamer, bleach, etc. Employees also handle liquids, cloth, plastic, glass, paper, rubber, and cleaning solvents.
Safety & Sanitation:
- Must ensure and comply with a safe and hazard free work environment according to the Health Department and OSHA regulations.
- Display knowledge of all safety emergency procedures.
- Responsible for adhering to cleanliness, safety, and sanitation standards in accordance with department policies and the Health Department.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED preferred.
- Experience in retail sales preferred.
- Ability to work with the tools and training provided.
- Ability to perform essential duties and work in the conditions described below.
- Ability to work as scheduled and arrive on time.
- Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) in English.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations.
- Ability to work alone whenever necessary.
