Transportation Assistant - Part-time

General Summary: To assist in providing safe/efficient transportation so special education or disabled students can enjoy the district’s curriculum and extra-curricular program.

Essential Functions:

• Assists the bus driver in maintaining good student conduct on the bus.
• Ensures the students are seated, using safety equipment as needed.
• Provides special health care needs when necessary.
• Pre-trips and post-trips safety restraint systems on bus, along with bus driver.
• Ensures that students are loaded and unloaded in a safe and orderly fashion, assisting the student to and from the residence/school when necessary.
• Performs other reasonably-related duties as may be assigned by the Director of Transportation.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Physical as approved by the Indiana Department of Education, Division of School Traffic Safety.

Length of Position: 36 weeks
