Responsibilities:
GENERAL SUMMARYVisits patients daily to ensure they have the opportunity to order meals based on their physician-ordered diet. Works in conjunction with other team members to perform various tasks within the department.

SUPERVISORY ORGANIZATION

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides exemplary customer service by visiting assigned units to obtain daily meal selections from each patient.
- Enters compliant patient selections and preferences in CBORD (Computerized diet system).
- Organizes tray tickets for efficient meal production and delivery.
- Interacts with multi-disciplinary staff members on the units to gather valuable input related to patient meals.
- Communicates food quality and acceptance issues to department management, reflecting trends, and advises staff on adjusting trays for changed diet orders.
- Screens patients to identify risk levels assesses patients at moderate nutritional risk and develops and implements medical nutrition therapy for them.
- May be assigned to infants, children, adolescents, adults, or geriatric populations.
- Calculates patients’ nutrient intakes as ordered by physicians.
- Educates patients, their families, and significant others on simple nutritional regimes.
- Arranges for individual follow-up as needed.
- Plans meals for difficult and/or malnourished patients to reach clinical nutrition goals.
- Documents all aspects of patients' nutritional care in medical records.
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to recommend the least restrictive but acceptable nutrition regime based on knowledge of the patient’s condition, communicating verbally or via the medical record.
- Participates in precepting undergraduate dietetic students and training and coaching unit support staff regarding their food service role.
- Participates in orienting and training peers.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma required
- Associate's degree in related field preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience in a health care setting preferred
