We are creating excelling schools where there is a laser-like focus on the Essential Elements of Instruction and moving each student to the next academic level.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  To contribute to effective school-public relations & health safety.  As prescribed by policy and established procedures, to screen students as required by state agencies and to maintain accurate and detailed attendance & health records on students.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains confidentiality when working with student files;
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with school staff, District staff, students, parents and community;
  • Classifies, sorts and files correspondence or other data;
  • Collates and assembles printed matter;
  • Duplicates, photocopies and prints school system forms and reports;
  • Performs minor first aid for students and teachers;
  • Assists with communicable disease control including school-wide inspections for head lice;
  • Contacts emergency professionals for students or staff who have been injured or have illnesses beyond the scope of basic first aid care;
  • Acts as liaison with the county, as required for immunizations, screenings for hearing, vision, and /or other health related needs and for general health information;
  • Assists school personnel in establishing sanitary conditions in schools;
  • Maintains accurate student attendance & health records to include but not limited to the following:
  • Coordinates and prepares attendance/health letters to be sent home;
  • Updates attendance and cross-check attendance period-by-period;
  • Prepares attendance/health reports as needed;
  • Updates computer entries as needed to correct attendance & health records;
  • Maintains records required by county, state, district policy, regulation, law or good practice;
  • Manages all incoming calls;
  • Maintains log of school visitors;
  • Is required to provide reasonable supervision over all students on school grounds, or engaged in school-sponsored activities.
  • Complies with all rules, regulations and policies of the Governing Board.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

  • Ability to pass a background check and maintain a current IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Current First Aid training certification AND CPR certificate upon employment.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent;
  • Computer skills, i.e. keyboarding, utilizing software programs;
  • One year related experience or training;
  • Previous experience in an educational setting preferred.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Computer Skills – Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.  Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  • Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.  Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.  The employee occasionally will stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands & arms and lifting up to 50 lbs.  Employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff members.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
