HYDRO TECHNICIAN I 

For Central California Irrigation District, the successful applicant will work under direction of the 

Manger to perform various water quality monitoring duties including water and sediment sampling, 

stream flow measurements and simple lab analysis. Pay range is a 15-step schedule starting at $22.11 

per hour to $38.56 per hour. Starting pay is commensurate with experience. Job description and

CENTRAL CALIFORNIA IRRIGATION DISTRICT 

HYDRO TECHNICIAN

Definition: Under direction performs various field water quality monitoring duties and groundwater monitoring duties as assigned

Examples of Duties: (1) Collect water and sediment samples; (2) coordinate sample chain of custody and shipping forms; (3) coordinate field sampling that may be required from outside consultants; (4) maintain flow measurement stations including stream gauging and electronic data devices; (5) test samples in District laboratory facility; (6) serve on land survey crew; and (7) sound depth to groundwater in monitoring wells

Knowledge of: Water measurement and sampling principals and procedures; safe handling of laboratory chemicals such as, acids, etc.; Microsoft Excel spreadsheet and graphs and Microsoft Word software, and navigation of the internet

Ability to: Work independently and cooperatively with others; perform heavy manual work including: lifting and carrying 60 lbs. up and down canal bank slopes; bending, stooping, crawling in confined spaces down to 24" in diameter; shoveling; lifting and carrying 60 lb. equipment on dry surfaces and through 6" deep mud; wade and work within irrigation facilities which are full of water; operate light automotive equipment; and collect samples any day or time during storm events

License: Possession of an appropriate California Driver's License issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles

Pay Range: This is a 15-step schedule ranging from $22.11 per hour to $38.56 per hour. Pay is commensurate with experience
