National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) Inspector

Job Title: NBIS Inspector – PE Location: Guaynabo, PR Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $90,000–$110,000 (based on experience) Contractor Work Model: Onsite System One is seeking a Professional Engineer (PE) to serve as an NBIS Inspector for bridge inspection and evaluation in Puerto Rico. This role is responsible for conducting inspections in compliance with National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), as well as state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate brings deep civil engineering experience and a strong understanding of Puerto Rico’s regulatory landscape. Key Responsibilities: Conduct detailed inspections of bridges in accordance with NBIS guidelines Assess conditions of bridge components, including superstructures, substructures, and other structural elements Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports to appropriate Puerto Rican authorities Evaluate structural elements considering environmental and regional factors unique to Puerto Rico Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations specific to bridge safety Manage inspection schedules and prioritize deadlines to ensure regulatory compliance Collaborate with stakeholders including government agencies, contractors, and internal engineering teams Stay up to date on changes in Puerto Rican regulations related to bridge inspection and maintenance Required Experience & Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Puerto Rico, or able to obtain within 6 months of hire. Minimum of 5 years of bridge inspection and structural evaluation experience NBIS Bridge Inspector Certification Strong technical understanding of bridge inspection protocols and safety standards Key Competencies: Extensive knowledge of NBIS and relevant federal/state regulations Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities Effective written and verbal communication skills Proficiency with bridge inspection tools and software Ability to manage multiple priorities independently or as part of a team System One, and its subsidiaries including Joulé, ALTA IT Services, and Mountain Ltd., are leaders in delivering outsourced services and workforce solutions across North America.
