Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will play a critical part in supporting financial operations, ensuring accuracy, and addressing backlogged reconciliations. Responsibilities:

• Oversee and execute month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Perform detailed account reconciliations, addressing any discrepancies and ensuring compliance.

• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain the integrity of the general ledger.

• Conduct bank reconciliations to verify account balances and resolve variances.

• Assist in reviewing and cleaning up prior financial backlogs and unresolved reconciliations.

• Collaborate on special financial projects as assigned to improve overall accounting operations.

• Ensure adherence to municipal accounting standards and regulations.

• Provide insights and recommendations to streamline accounting procedures and enhance efficiency.

• Minimum of 7 years of experience as a Senior Accountant or in a similar role.
• Strong expertise in month-end close processes and general ledger management.
• Proficiency in preparing accurate journal entries and conducting account reconciliations.
• Demonstrated experience in bank reconciliation and resolving financial variances.
• Familiarity with municipal accounting standards and practices is highly desirable.
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting software and tools.
