Position Details:
Title: R&D Laboratory Technician
Position Type: 1 year contract with additional opportunity contingent upon performance and continued business need
Job Location: Chanhassen, MN
Shift: 8AM-5PM
Benefits: 401K, Dental insurance, Life Insurance, Medical Insurance, Vision Insurance 
Compensation: $25-30/HR
 
Responsibilities:

  • Conduct laboratory R&D work safely, following site safety practices and using proper PPE, laboratory equipment, and 5S principles.
  • Support Engineers and Supervisors by assisting with assigned projects and maintaining project timelines.
  • Apply basic problem-solving skills to address project challenges and ensure deliverables are met.
  • Collect, organize, and present data in a clear and coherent format; communicate observations on experimental outcomes.
  • Perform routine tests and operate application equipment safely and effectively.
  • Identify abnormalities in data and project work, escalating issues as needed.
  • Train Technicians on equipment operation and test procedures.
  • Take ownership of designated equipment, ensuring safe and proper operation.
  • Prepare and deliver intra-departmental reports and presentations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to determine appropriate tests for raw materials and products.
  • Skilled in sample preparation, culturing, and microbiological analysis.
  • Proficient in interpreting test results and maintaining accurate documentation.
  • Knowledge of current microbiological methods and microbial identification.
  • Strong understanding of Good Laboratory Practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with serial dilutions and microbiological plating techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills with strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
  • Experience with laboratory documentation and work instructions.
  • Effective teamwork and interpersonal skills, with the ability to thrive in a self-directed, collaborative environment.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Strong ability to gather, analyze, and interpret chemical, physical, and mechanical data.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and collaboration in product development programs.
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project); familiarity with Lotus Notes and statistical analysis software is preferred.
