Salary: $85,000 +


This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all environmental, health, and safety programs across multiple terminal locations. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while supporting a proactive safety culture. The EHS Specialist works closely with terminal leadership, operations, and corporate EHS teams to drive continuous improvement in regulatory compliance, injury prevention, and environmental performance.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state-specific EHS regulations across all assigned terminals.
  • Maintain and manage all required environmental permits, records, and regulatory reporting (e.g., SPCC, Tier II, TRI, SWPPP).
  • Conduct routine audits and inspections to assess compliance and ensure timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain standardized EHS policies, procedures, and best practices across terminals.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Deliver EHS training to terminal employees and contractors and ensure training compliance.
  • Promote employee engagement through safety committees, near-miss reporting, and hazard recognition programs.
  • Coordinate emergency response planning, drills, and communication with local responders.
  • Track and report EHS key performance indicators (KPIs), including injury rates, leading indicators, and environmental metrics.
  • Provide regular EHS performance updates to senior leadership.
  • Support capital projects and maintenance activities with EHS oversight and permitting guidance.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor to site-level personnel on safety culture and environmental stewardship.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field (preferred)
  • 510 years of progressive EHS experience in industrial, chemical, or terminal operations
  • Multi-site or regional EHS management experience (preferred)
  • Working knowledge of key regulations, including OSHA, RCRA, CERCLA, TSCA, CAA, and CWA
  • Strong leadership, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional certifications preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent
  • Must have and maintain a valid drivers license

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with hazardous materials handling, including bulk chemical transfer and terminal operations
  • Familiarity with spill prevention, containment systems, and emergency response protocols
  • Proficiency with EHS software systems, digital inspection tools, and data analysis
  • Excellent computer, typing, and training skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus

Work Availability:

  • Ability to travel up to 50% across assigned terminal locations
  • Must be able to travel overnight at least 30% of the time
  • Must be available and willing to work outside of normal business hours, including weekends and holidays, as required by business needs

  • Frequently required to: stand, walk, sit, use hands, talk, hear
  • Occasionally required to: reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Vision Requirements: Close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
