Plant Chemist Requisition ID: 1866 Job Category: Craft / Technical Location: Red Rock, OK, US, 74651 Job Description: **JOB INFORMATION** • Job Title: Plant Chemist I • Job Code: 127990 • Job Grade: 38 **JOB SUMMARY** Performs environmental and chemistry-related functions at a power plant to support efficient operation and environmental compliance. **LEVEL OF RESPONSIBILITY** • Routine duties based on detailed instruction. Works under direct supervision. Responds to routine questions and problems within standards and guides. Follows established procedures to accomplish requirements of job. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** • Company representative in Environmental agency inspections (e.g., EPA, ODEQ, Corporation Commission). • Performs basic water treatment operation. • Performs basic environmental compliance functions. • Serve as a technical resource to plant personnel. • Performs basic boiler chemistry control and cooling water chemistry control. • Ensures compliance with safety policies and promotes a safety culture by modeling behaviors consistent with Incident and Injury Free (IIF). • All other duties as assigned. **REQUIREMENTS** • Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry; Or • Bachelor's Degree in Science with two years chemistry experience (i.e. Environmental laboratory, regulatory, Environmental consulting, equivalent military experience, Industrial Environmental, etc.). **WORKING CONDITIONS** • Required to work with multi-crafts crews and other groups. • May work under hazardous conditions where physical danger exists due to mechanical equipment. • May be required to work non-standard work schedules which includes overtime, weekends, holidays, on-call and call-outs. • May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather. • May require travel. **PHYSICAL DEMANDS - LIFTING AND OTHER WEIGHT REQMTS** General Requirements • Occasionally:Sitting • Occasionally:Pushing • Occasionally:Pulling • Occasionally:Reaching • Occasionally:Repetitive Motions • Frequently:Standing • Frequently:Walking • Frequently:Climbing • Frequently:Stooping • Frequently:Kneeling • Frequently:Crouching • Frequently:Grasping • Frequently:Eye/Hand/Foot Coordination Lifting & Other Weight Requirements • Occasionally:Lifting up to 50 lbs • Occasionally:Carrying up to 50 lbs **SPECIAL SAFETY REQUIREMENTS** • Member will not be required to drive in order to perform their job duties. • The handling, packaging, processing, storage, disposal or transport of hazardous materials; • The operation of equipment, machinery or power tools; • Repairing, maintaining or monitoring the performance or operation of any equipment, machinery or manufacturing process, the malfunction or disruption of which could result in injury or property damage; **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAS)** • Demonstrates the ability manage plant RCRA waste. • Basic computer skills using MS Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Access). • Ability to read and understand environmental regulations, company policies and operating procedures. • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude in the use of hand tools. • Ability to take on additional responsibility. • Basic knowledge of the plants water treatment systems. • Basic knowledge in plant cooling water systems. • Basic knowledge of the plants environmental compliance and reporting. • Ability to communicate with individuals at various levels throughout the organization. • Ability to adopt and practice Incident and Injury Free (IIF) philosophy. **HEALTH AND SAFETY (MEDICAL/DOT REQUIREMENTS)** • Pre-Employment Drug Screen • Pre-Employment Physical • Audiogram Baseline • Respiratory History • Job Specific Physical Assessment • This position is classified as a Safety-Sensitive Job under state law.
