Job Description
PROGRAM STATEMENT: As an outreach of the Mission, the Attic Window Stores act as a compassionate witness for Jesus Christ through the provision of low-cost clothing, furniture, household items, etc., to low-income individuals and families, and the distribution of those same items to needy families not able to purchase them.
Position Summary: Muncie Mission Ministries is seeking a dedicated Attic Window Store Clerk to join our team. The Attic Window Clerk assists in all phases of retailing and works closely with the Attic Window Store Manager to provide a pleasant shopping experience for all customers.
Reports to: Attic Window Store Manager/Director of Retail Operations
FLSA Classification: Hourly, Part-time, and Full-time opportunities available
Essential Functions:
- Assist the store manager in all phases of retailing.
- Must be able to operate the cash register daily.
- Responsible for pricing and stocking of merchandise.
- Help to provide a clean, attractive showroom and a pleasant shopping experience for customers and Family Service clients.
- Assist in decorating the store for seasonal changes.
- Work closely with the store manager with all items pertaining to the Attic Window stores.
- Help to fill Family Service giveaway orders in stores where this service is available.
- Must be capable of operating the store in the manager’s absence.
- Attending store personnel meetings, company meetings and training sessions.
- Will be available to adjust schedules to fill in for absence of other store personnel.
- Use time keeping system properly.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Necessary Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Must have a sincere love for the Lord and desire to see individuals come to a personal relationship with Christ and grow in Him.
- Must agree with the philosophy and policies of the ministry and be able to view this as a team ministry with a servant’s heart.
- And active affiliate or member of a church body with an ongoing affiliation or membership.
- Alcohol and drug free for a substantial period prior to immediate employment.
- Must be able to work independently.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience with some type of retail venue, able to work at a cash register and make change.
- Possess good people and property management skills.
- Communicate effectively.
- Ability to exhibit good decision-making skills within the assigned task.
- Must be able to lift/carry up to 25pounds.
- Participate in local church community.
Background Investigation and Drug Testing:
- After a “conditional offer of employment” is made, the individual must pass a background investigation, which includes a consumer credit investigation report.
- Muncie Mission Ministries may request the successful applicant to submit to and pass a drug and /or alcohol test. This drug and/or alcohol testing may occur any time after the applicant receives a conditional offer of employment. All employees must sign and adhere to MMM Drug and Alcohol policy and remain free from addiction to drugs and/or alcohol.
Hours:
Generally, Monday through Saturday, hours arranged by Senior Store Manager and/or Attic Window Manager and approved by President/CEO.
Attic Window Thrift Store Clerk is an hourly – at will position.
