Job Description
PROGRAM STATEMENT: The New Life Center is to provide vocational training in a biblically based environment. This program is designed to bring the discipline of “real Life” experience through the development of good work-habits – as to time and relationships and the teaching of job skills. It gives a man purpose for living, provides a means for him to contribute something of himself into the program and to grow in leadership and responsibility. To give him the tools needed to become a productive citizen in the community.
Position Summary: Muncie Mission Ministries is seeking a dedicated Warehouse Assistant to join our team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, sorting, organizing, and cleaning donated merchandise in preparation for sale in the Attic Window Thrift Stores—loading and unloading trucks, running baler, and tow motor.
Reports to: Director of New Life Center
FLSA Classification: Hourly/ Non-Exempt
Minimum Personal Requirements:
- Must have a sincere love for the Lord and desire to see individuals come to a personal relationship with Christ and grow in Him.
- Must be in agreement with the philosophy and policies of the ministry and be able to view this as a team ministry with a servant’s heart.
- An active affiliate or member of a church body with an ongoing affiliation or membership.
- Free from alcohol and drug addiction for a substantial period of time prior to immediate employment.
- Must be able to work independently.
Required Education/Experience:

- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Valid Indiana Drives License and qualify to be insured under the Mission insurance policy(if assigned to drive a MMM vehicle)
- Ability to provide leadership, good people and property management skills
- Must be able to communicate effectively
- Ability to exhibit good decision making skills within assigned tasks
- Must be able to work independently
DAILY AND OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sorting, organizing, and cleaning donated merchandise in preparation for sale in the Attic Window Thrift Stores
- Process donations in a timely manner
- Supervising Mission residents and volunteers
- Loading and unloading trucks
- Running a baler
- Operating a tow motor
- Providing excellent service to donors
- Work closely with the Warehouse Supervisor or New Life Center Director and report any problems to them
- Assist in the Attic Window as requested by the NLC Director
- Use the time clock properly to document time worked
- Attend personnel training and meetings as requested by the NLC Director or Management
- As a representative of the Muncie Mission in the community, your appearance must be above reproach: clean-shaven, neatly dressed, and practicing proper hygiene. Clean jeans with no holes or casual pants are acceptable. Shirts with rude, vulgar, or suggestive messages are not acceptable.
Other Responsibilities/Characteristics:
- Able to work with clients who are dealing with extreme difficulties in their life such as substance abuse, homelessness, mental and physical disabilities
- Reports any issues and concerns regarding resident behavior to the NLC Director
- Dependable
- High Integrity
- Practices safety, courtesy and caution at all times, especially when operating machinery
- Team oriented attitude
- Other duties as assigned by Management
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds
- Must be able to work in varying climates

Hours:
Generally, Monday through Saturday, hours arranged by the NLC Director and approved by the President/CEO.
Muncie Mission Warehouse Assistant position is an hourly, at-will position.
Background Investigation and Drug Testing:
After a “conditional offer of employment” is made, the individual must pass a background investigation, which includes a consumer credit investigation report.

This drug and/or alcohol testing may occur any time after the applicant receives a conditional offer of employment.
