Key Responsibilities of the Bookkeeper

As a Bookkeeper, you will oversee the daily accounting functions, including:

  • Managing AP, AR, invoicing, collections, and payroll as the lead Bookkeeper

  • Supporting month-end and year-end close processes; coordinating with the CPA firm on reconciliations and documentation

  • Filing and overseeing multistate sales tax returns; maintaining customer tax exemption certificates

  • Processing daily customer invoicing and applying revenue recognition standards

  • Calculating employee commissions and reconciling sales-based reports

  • Managing company credit card reconciliations and employee expense reporting

  • Leading project-based cost accounting, including project cost review, tracking, and closeouts

  • Coordinating 1099 filings as part of your Bookkeeper duties

  • Reviewing and approving journal entries and reconciliations prepared by the accounting team

  • Supporting audit preparation and other special projects as an experienced Bookkeeper



What the Company Needs in a Bookkeeper

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related experience preferred

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive bookkeeping responsibilities

  • Government contracting experience is a plus

  • Self-starter who can work with minimal supervision and handle multiple projects

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
