Travel RN Job Details

• Position: Travel Med/Surg Registered Nurse (RN) – Adult Unit
• Location: Carbondale, IL 62901 (Southern Illinois healthcare jobs)
• Healthcare Setting: Primarily surgical department with medical overlap
• Unit: 35 private patient rooms, two nurses stations
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts
• Weekly Hours: 36 hours per week
• Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 9/2/2025 – End: 12/2/2025)
• Staffing Ratio: 1:5-6 nurse to patient ratio; patient care techs on each shift
• Weekend/Holiday: Every other weekend; flexible holiday scheduling
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,780 - $1,910

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois (required)
• Minimum 1 year of recent medical-surgical (med/surg) nursing experience
• Ability to work 12-hour night shifts and every other weekend
• Strong communication, clinical, and teamwork skills
• Experience with surgical and medical patient populations preferred
• BLS certification (preferred for travel nursing jobs)

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult patients in a med/surg hospital setting
• Monitor, assess, and document patient status, progress, and vital signs
• Collaborate with physicians, supervisors, and patient care technicians
• Support patients through surgical recovery and medical treatments
• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for optimal patient outcomes
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate effectively with the healthcare team
