Position Summary

The Personal Care Aide provides compassionate, non-medical support to clients in their homes, helping them maintain comfort, safety, and independence. This role includes assistance with daily living activities, light housekeeping, and companionship, while ensuring compliance with agency and state health regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist clients with personal care needs such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene.

  • Help with mobility, transfers, and positioning to ensure comfort and prevent falls or injury.

  • Prepare and serve meals, following dietary restrictions and preferences.

  • Provide companionship and engage clients in conversation, recreation, and social activities.

  • Perform light housekeeping tasks including laundry, vacuuming, dishwashing, and room organization.

  • Remind and assist clients with self-administered medications (as allowed by agency policy).

  • Observe and report changes in client’s physical, emotional, or mental condition to supervisors or family members.

  • Follow individualized care plans and maintain accurate daily care notes.

  • Uphold client confidentiality and dignity at all times.

  • Adhere to agency policies, safety guidelines, and Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

  • Completion of a state-approved Personal Care Aide (PCA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training program preferred but not required (on-the-job training may be available).

  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).

  • Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license if transporting clients.

  • Ability to lift, move, or transfer clients safely.

  • Strong communication, time-management, and interpersonal skills.

  • Commitment to compassion, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • In-home care within the community (travel to clients’ residences).

  • Flexible hours including weekdays, weekends, and evenings based on client needs.
