Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position in an acute care Critical Access Hospital requiring an active ND or compact RN license and strong assessment and titration skills.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

• Work in a 20-bed Med/Surg unit within an acute care Critical Access Hospital
• Patient population includes cases such as falls, CHF, bowel obstruction, A-fib, and swingbed
• Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:5
• Utilizes Meditech EMR; Mindray monitors are used for telemetry with RNs reading their own strips
• RNs titrate drips such as insulin, heparin, levophed, and set-rate amiodarone
• Day and night rotating 12-hour shifts, scheduled by manager, with every third weekend required
• Block scheduling may be available depending on staffing needs
• Holiday rotation included
• Flexibility to float to ER is expected, though not first to float
• Responsibilities include comprehensive patient assessment, titration of medications, and management of respiratory support devices
• Support from charge nurse available 24/7; CNAs and PCTs assist with vital signs, I&O documentation, and ADLs
• Orientation of 3-6 shifts depending on staff availability
• No specific scrub color required
• Team-oriented environment with an expectation to handle a broad range of duties
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Returning candidates must not have worked directly for any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facility in the past 12 months

\n \n Requirements\n

• Active ND or compact RN license required at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg nursing experience required
• Current AHA certifications in BLS, ACLS, and PALS required
• NIHSS certification required; TNCC required if working in the ER
• Must be confident in assessments, infusion pump use, medication administration, and possess strong teamwork and communication skills
• Experience managing respiratory equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and high-flow devices
• Two professional references required: one supervisor within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor within the last three years
• Copy of a valid driver’s license must be provided
