American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a combined ER/Med Surg position at an acute care facility in South Dakota, requiring at least 2 years of RN experience and active ACLS, BLS, TNCC, and NRP certifications.

- Combined ER and Med Surg unit in an acute care hospital setting \n
- 25-bed unit serving both emergency and medical-surgical patient populations \n
- Floats between the ER and Med Surg departments \n
- Med Surg nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 3–4:1 depending on census and acuity; ER nurses are expected to function independently \n
- Charting is performed in Epic; Pyxis is used for medication management \n
- 12-hour shifts rotating days and nights \n
- Every other weekend and holiday required \n
- 3 on-call shifts required per 13-week contract \n
- Local candidates are accepted; candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced pay rate \n

- Active RN license — SD or Compact state license required \n
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience \n
- At least 6 months of ER experience within the past year \n
- At least 6 months of Med Surg experience within the past year \n
- Required certifications (AHA): BLS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC \n
- PALS certification required \n
- Ability to function independently in an ER setting \n
- Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years \n
- All certifications must be active at time of consideration — no pending certifications accepted \n

- Responsibilities include providing nursing care across both the ER and Med Surg units, floating between departments as needed \n
- Orientation consists of Epic computer training, one day of ER training, and one day of Med Surg training \n
- Navy scrubs with no logos are required; white underlayers or a white lab coat are permitted \n
- All staff are required to badge in and out at the facility \n
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date to be eligible \n
