GENERAL SUMMARY
Performs a wide variety of clerical support services for the efficient operation of The Clinic, including, but not limited to, collection of past due accounts, filing and maintaining Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurances and private accounts.  Cordially greeting patients and guests, ascertains their needs, and directs to appropriate area.

To provide personalized, professional healthcare services to the residents of the Communities we serve.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1.    Courteously answers telephone and directs to appropriate party or takes     accurate message.   
2.    Sorts and distributes incoming mail.  
3.    Courteously greets visitors and directs appropriately. 
4.    Prepares bills for The Clinic’s patients to include all information.  
5.    Collects moneys from patients who pay at the time of service.  
6.    Balances daily work.
7.    Communicates with co-workers in a professional manner. 
8.    Schedules appointments for The Clinic.
9.    Participates in preparing monthly statements for mailing. 
10.    Maintains work areas in a neat and orderly manner. 
11.    Maintains confidentiality at all times. 
12.    Reports past due accounts to determine extent of delinquency problems. 
13.    Initiate letters and calls to past due accounts and appropriately follows the     account. 
14.    Prepares accounts to be turned over to the collection agency for review by the     clinic director. 
15.    Records collection of payments on accounts when received. 
16.    Runs and mails all Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurances and private     patient bills. 
17.    Monitors accounts for payments.  Determines when/if account to be resubmitted. 
18.    Processes all forms for deceased patients. 
19.    Processes explanation of payment from insurance companies.  
20.    Verifies all workman compensation injuries prior to treatment if possible. 
21.    Performs special projects as assigned. 
22.    Responsible for all insurance claims processed including worker’s compensation,     Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance and private accounts.  
23.    Maintains ongoing awareness of Disaster Plan and OSHA Requirements. 
24.    Limit personal phone calls at the front desk.  Be aware of HIPAA privacy     regulations
 

Qualifications


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
1.    Requires sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for     files and supplies.  Occasionally lifts files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds.
2.    Physical strength to perform the following lifting tasks:
•    Floor to waist - 20 pounds
•    14” to waist - 30 pounds
•    Waist to shoulder - 20 pounds
•    Shoulder to overhead - 10 pounds
•    Carry 30 pounds for 30 feet
•    Push 10 pounds/force for 15 feet
•    Pull 10 pounds/force for 15 feet

3.    Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, type at 40 wpm,     operate a calculator, telephone, copier, dictation recorder, and such other office     equipment as necessary. 
4.    It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for long periods and to     work in an environment which can be very stressful.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Office Manager.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
1.    High School graduation or GED.
2.    Previous physician and/or health organization related experience preferred.  
3.    Good communication skills required.  
4.    Must have workable knowledge of computers, and with good typing skills and     medical terminology is desirable.   

INFECTION EXPOSURE RISK LEVEL
Category III– Minimum risk - this job does not involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissue.  You do not perform or help in emergency medical care or first aid as part of your job.

1.    Work is performed in an office environment.
2.    Involves frequent contact with staff, patients, and the public. 
3.    Work may be stressful at times. 
4.    Contact may involve dealing with angry or upset people.
