Description

PRIMARY FUNCTION

The Multi-Skilled Technician is responsible for assisting Director of Facilities, Maintenance & Safety in responding to work orders and providing service and feedback to the customer on all work orders, troubleshooting, and providing preventive maintenance on the facility and production equipment, fixtures, and systems.

Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: performing a variety of preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and trouble calls. To provide an effective and responsive facility service, by means of carrying out semi-skilled duties, that is fully compliant with all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Will be a key player in initiatives to deliver continuous improvements in safety, quality, productivity, waste, and cost. They will support the Director of Facilities, Maintenance & Safety in other duties as assigned.

Complies with department and organization-wide policies, Critical Access Hospital requirements, Safety, and Infection Control, all and Federal and State of Colorado regulation related to the performance of Keefe Memorial Hospital operations and requirements of the compliance program.

SIGNIFICANT DUTIES

  • Completes P.M.’s within the facility
  • Performs all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, include hard surfaces and carpeting
  • Maintains workshops and other engineering spaces in a clean and tidy condition
  • Organizes daily work patterns around identified demands and priorities
  • Uses all relevant and appropriate tools and equipment
  • On a daily basis, works on units and other healthcare properties in order to provide a well-maintained, clean, physically safe, accessible and welcoming environment for patients, staff and visitors
  • Assists in carrying out maintenance routines both general and planned on a wide range of mechanical plant and equipment which includes:
    • Lights and lighting systems including cleaning and lamp replacement
    • Kitchen and catering equipment
    • Domestic appliances
    • Portable appliances including tests and basic repairs
    • Non-medical equipment
  • Completes planned and unplanned maintenance activities as necessary to sustain business operations
  • Carries and responds to communication devices (mobile phone/Hand held device).
  • Complies with Health and Safety regulations and safe systems of work, reporting of any defects immediately to the Director of Facilities, Maintenance & Safety.
  • Accepts and utilizes training and development offered in order to carry out duties and responsibilities in order to achieve a high-quality service
  • Carries out minor installation work when required
  • Works overtime as needed and when requested.
  • Participates in a rotating on-call schedule (4 on (M-TH) - 3 off, with additional days as determined by leader) with other contractors/consultants in order to keep the facility safe and operating smoothly
  • Respects the privacy of patients and staff, and maintains confidentiality at all times
  • Other duties as assigned by leader

  • Demonstrates effective relationships with hospital staff, patients, public, outside agencies, and providers

  • Exercises professional judgment, courtesy, and professionalism in daily interactions with others
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with health care team members and diverse patient populations

Utilizes proper body mechanics, transfer/lifting techniques, and appropriate equipment to minimize fall risk to patient and injury to self.

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Previous experience of minor electrical/mechanical or buildings required.
  • Awareness of safe working procedures and health and safety requirements preferred.
  • Previous experience of working in healthcare premises preferred.

Certificates, Licensure, Registrations

  • Valid Colorado driver’s license
