Job Description:

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for screening, testing, evaluating, diagnosing and treating disorders of speech, language, cognitive communication, voice, and swallowing. In addition, this position is also responsible for consulting, educating and training patients and their caregivers.

As a Speech Language Pathologist at Intermountain Health, you will play a vital role in supporting our clinical team, ensuring our patients receive the best care by:

  • Carrying out speech therapy evaluations, program planning, and treatments for hospital inpatients and outpatients.
  • Working closely with the Physical Medicine Director in coordinating speech therapy activities with other hospital disciplines and in developing a program for department expansion, community and physician marketing, budget needs, and department administration.
  • Working independently with limited contact with other Speech Language Pathologists.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in speech pathology, required
  • Current license to practice speech-language pathology in the state of practice, required
  • Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) required within twelve (12) months of receiving temporary license. Strong Clinical Fellows with demonstrated competence may work under supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist while completing the fellowship year
  • Current BLS certification endorsed by the American Heart Association, required by completion of the unit-specific orientation and before working independently
  • At least six (6) months of experience in the acute care setting, including experience with Modified Barium Swallow Studies, preferred

Physical Requirements:

Hearing/listening, lifting, manual dexterity, pulling/pushing, seeing, sitting, speaking, squatting/kneeling, standing, and walking.
