Job Description:
This role manages the staff and day to day operations of the pellet production department, helps support order fulfillment and supports the operations team.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Manage team members to maintain workflow efficiency and support production goals
- Fill and check orders for requested products
- Maintain confidential information (i.e. HIPAA Compliant) and properly manage controlled medication along with required documentation
- Resolve professional problems related to the fulfillment of medication orders and provide resolution to customer service complaints
- Ensure compliance with 21 CFR Part 11, USP 795 & 797, Company Policies and Procedures, State boards and Federal Regulatory bodies
- Participate in the development of effective and safe sterile and non-sterile formulations, validation of each process, oversight of compounding the said formulations
- Responsible for acting as a professional resource regarding drug-related information and literature
- Assist in the maintenance of inventory records and controls as required; in the taking of inventories, in the maintenance of adequate stock, and in the receiving of drugs and supplies
Human Resources:
- Manages and provides leadership and direction to pharmacy interns, technicians, and other pharmacy personnel; resolving professional, technical, and clerical problems; orienting new employees to assigned duties; training employees and maintaining training records for new procedures/techniques; checking for errors; and adherence to established policies and procedures.
- Support senior leadership and PIC in activities within the pharmacy such as SOP development or expansion, implementation of new software, customer complaint related calls, and R&D committee related tasks
Professional Development:
- Responds to management questions, comments and concerns in a timely manner and ensures that any special circumstances are communicated and addressed in a proactive and positive manner
- Develop in areas relating to compounding including therapies associated with compounded products, regulatory issues (state and federal regulations, USP chapters 795, 797 and 800), and other areas to improve personal knowledge of profession
- Keeps an open mind to learning new processes such as automated systems and develop a cGMP-oriented outlook, always assesses each situation based on policies and scientific justification if needed, performs and documents risk analysis, initiates and complete CAPAs and Deviations as needed.
Education: Degree in Pharmacy or PharmD Degree, Sterile Compounding Certification, Current Texas pharmacist license in good standing.
Scope: Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information. Adheres to all policies, procedures and compliance guidelines. Works with minimal direction, consults with leadership as needed.
Experience: Comprehensive knowledge in Compounded Medications is required, Management of a high volume operation setting strongly preferred, Sterile Compounding certification preferred, Microsoft Excel and Word Experience, Experience with The PK Software, Sales force, Computer RX, Instant GMP a plus.
Skills: Demonstrate problem-solving aptitude necessary for the dispensing action; Ability to work independently and as a part of a team, organized and have the ability to schedule their time in an efficient manner; be able to communicate effectively with other health care professionals and patients; capable of meeting the requirements as specified for the staff pharmacist position.
