Job Description

Job Opportunity: Family Law Attorney (Bilingual – Spanish Required)

About Us:

We are a growing law firm with a focus on family law, with additional practice areas in estate planning, probate, and guardianship. Our office is experiencing significant growth, and we are committed to delivering top-notch legal services to our clients. We have a large base of Spanish-speaking clients, so fluency in Spanish is a must. Our firm is built on respect for each other, and to our clients with service to our clients being our top priority.

Position Overview:

We are looking for an attorney to focus primarily on family law matters, including divorce, parental responsibilities (“custody”), child support, and related issues. Other practice areas include: adoptions, estate planning, probate, and guardianships. Whether you are a seasoned attorney or a recent law school graduate awaiting bar exam results, we offer a supportive environment with significant opportunities for growth and hands-on experience.

Responsibilities:

- Conduct thorough initial consultations with clients to assess their needs and provide legal guidance on family law and other matters.

- Maintain regular, clear, and compassionate communication with clients, keeping them informed of case progress and timely responding to their questions and concerns with care. Fostering a positive, productive, and trusting attorney-client relationship is the top priority at our firm.

- Draft, review, and file a wide range of legal documents, including petitions, motions, discovery requests, and agreements related to divorce, parental responsibilities, and support. Our firm places the highest value on producing clear, thorough, and well-crafted legal work and written product to ensure we are providing the strongest possible service to our clients.

- Represent clients in court proceedings, hearings, and mediations, advocating for their best interests.

- Work closely with clients to gather evidence, financial records, and other information essential to case development.

- Negotiate settlements with opposing counsel to resolve cases efficiently and effectively, always with the client’s goals in mind. We encourage a professional and collaborative approach with opposing counsel whenever possible, avoiding unnecessary conflict or distractions. Our firm is committed to zealous advocacy without engaging in unproductive or adversarial behavior that unfortunately runs rampant.

- Collaborate with other firm attorneys and support staff on case matters and strategic planning. Our team-oriented environment ensures that guidance and support are always readily available when you need it. Incorporate feedback and direction from the managing attorney to align with established office procedures and best practices.

- Stay up-to-date on changes in law and related legal procedures. Our firm places a high priority on maintaining a deep understanding of relevant statutes, court rules, case law, and effective case strategies. To support your continued growth, we cover the cost of legal training and continuing legal education (CLE) to help you expand your legal skillset and stay ahead in your practice.

- Manage a diverse caseload, balancing multiple client matters with strong attention to detail, organization, and time management. Providing our clients with high-quality service means prioritizing effective and proactive case management at all times.

Requirements:

- JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois (Open to recent graduates awaiting bar results).

- Ability to speak and understand Spanish fluently (required).

- Interest in family law, estate planning, and probate.

- Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to client service.

- Consistently uphold and adhere to the responsibilities outlined above to ensure the highest standards of professionalism and client service.

What We Offer:

- Training and Mentorship: If you are just starting out, we have all been in your position. We understand that at the start of your legal career, most things will be new, and without good support, you may feel overwhelmed. We pride ourselves on offering comprehensive training, especially for attorneys who are new to family law or just starting their careers. You'll have direct mentorship from experienced attorneys to help you thrive.

- Diverse Case Load: In addition to family law, you may have the opportunity to work on cases involving adoption, estate planning, probate, guardianship, and more.

- Collaborative Team: You’ll join a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to supporting each other and delivering exceptional service to our clients.

- Growth Opportunity: As our firm continues to grow, you’ll have room to expand your practice, develop your skills, and build a rewarding legal career.

- Work Life Balance: We are an employer, not a family. We recognize that applicants have their own family and friends that they would prefer to spend free time with as opposed to working and there is no shame in admitting that. To that end, we place an emphasis on supporting a work life balance and not overloading attorneys with an excessive amount of cases. Our clients deserve to have an advocate with the available bandwidth to give their case the full attention due to their matter. Our attorneys deserve to enjoy their lives and not dread their occupation due to an excessive case load.

- Benefits: To support your financial and personal well-being we offer: Student loan repayment assistance; Health insurance premium payment assistance; and 401(k) savings plan and contribution matching.

Compensation:

At our firm, we offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation model that includes a guaranteed minimum regular salary of $80,000.00. We reward your hard work and dedication with a significant percentage of all realized fees on cases assigned to you. This structure is designed to directly compensate you for the effort and results you deliver, providing substantial earning potential well beyond the minimum salary as you grow within the firm. Your success and contributions are recognized and directly tied to your compensation, allowing you to control your financial growth. Pay ranges provided in this posting reflect actual, and not theoretical, historical earnings achieved for this position.

Join us in continuing to build a firm that not only grows but also helps others grow. If you are a bilingual attorney ready to take on a challenging and rewarding role, we would love to hear from you!
