American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a large Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center, requiring a minimum of 2 years of L&D experience and a CT or compact RN license.

  • Labor & Delivery unit in a large, short-term acute care academic medical center and Level I Trauma Center with 1,500+ staffed beds
  • \n
  • Facility volume of 200–300 births per month
  • \n
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • \n
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
  • \n
  • Every other weekend required
  • \n
  • On-call required: two 4-hour blocks per 6-week schedule
  • \n
  • Epic EMR (experience preferred)
  • \n
  • Scrubs are provided by the facility
  • \n
  • No floating outside of scope
  • \n
  • Block scheduling accommodated
  • \n
  • 13-week contract
  • \n
Requirements\n
    \n
  • Active CT or compact RN license required prior to start date (CT license takes 15–21 business days to issue; candidates must apply before being considered)
  • \n
  • Current BLS certification required; ACLS and NRP required; AWHONN Fetal Monitoring Beginner preferred
  • \n
  • Minimum 2 years of L&D experience required (candidates with 1.5 years may be considered with Level I trauma or travel experience)
  • \n
  • Experience at a large trauma center setting required
  • \n
  • Academic/teaching hospital experience preferred
  • \n
  • Level I Trauma Center experience preferred
  • \n
  • Proficiency in full-scope L&D skills including vaginal and C-section delivery support, fetal monitoring, hemorrhage management, neonatal resuscitation, and postpartum care
  • \n
  • Experience with magnesium sulfate therapy, Pitocin, antihypertensives, and other L&D medications required
  • \n
  • External and internal fetal monitoring experience required, including IUPC placement and calibration
  • \n
  • 1 professional reference required for consideration
  • \n
  • Flu vaccination required; declinations not accepted
  • \n
  • COVID vaccination required (religious/medical exemptions considered)
  • \n
  • Candidates must not have any disciplinary actions on their nursing license
  • \n
Additional Information\n

  • Responsibilities span the full continuum of L&D care including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum management, as well as neonatal care in the delivery room
  • \n
  • Surgical case support includes circulating and scrubbing for C-sections, cervical cerclage, D&C, and tubal ligation (some preferred)
  • \n
  • Couplet care and high-risk antepartum experience are preferred
  • \n
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • \n
  • Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates are not accepted
  • \n
  • Former permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be eligible as a traveler
  • \n
  • RTO of 7 days or fewer can be approved; requests exceeding 7 days require additional facility approval
  • \n
  • Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
  • \n
  • Monthly parking cost is approximately $125
  • \n
