Department: Draw Bench Operations
Reports To: Draw Bench Manager
Classification: Non-exempt (Hourly)
1st shift 6am-4:30pm (Monday - Thursday)
Job Summary:
Execute duties given by warehouse manager. Properly carry out draw bench operations as assigned.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Operate saw - load and unload material, set up for specific jobs, monitor orders as they are processed.
- Operate wheelabrator – keep loaded, input tags, keep blast cleaned up.
- Operate chamfer.
- Operate fork truck and overhead crane.
- Maintain proper paperwork as required by each specific job.
- Assist with cleaning, organizing, and general upkeep of the draw bench area.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- General computer experience required.
- Fork truck and overhead crane experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong general computer skills required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and follow written instructions.
- Ability to perform basic math functions and accurately use a tape measure.
- Ability to follow all safety and other company policies and procedures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to measure and interpret readings using caliper and micrometer desired for level 2 training.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to stand for an entire shift to operate machinery.
- Ability to safely maneuver around each part of the machine to monitor and adjust the steel as it processes.
- Physical activity such as bending, reaching, and twisting while pushing and pulling bars or pieces of steel as they are processed.
- Ability to safely ascend and descend steps, stairs, or ladders to access and operate machinery and fork trucks.
- Ability to work atop of uneven surfaces to move and secure bundles of steel.
- Ability to frequently lift 15-50 pounds of steel bars repeatedly and occasionally lift up-to 80 pounds of steel bars.
- Constant exposure to machinery and loud noises.
