Job Description
EmpowerED Care is a trauma-informed, family-centered agency dedicated to strengthening and stabilizing high-risk children and families. Our Early Intervention Occupational Therapists help infants and toddlers develop fine motor skills, sensory processing, and self-care abilities, ensuring they thrive in daily life.
We have multiple locations that we service around New York City; Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam, Nassau, and Suffolk Counties.
We can offer Full-Time / Part-Time / Contract positions. We offer a flexible schedule with remote/hybrid work with travel to patients within your community.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment & Diagnosis
- Conduct evaluations to identify sensory integration challenges, fine motor delays, and self-care difficulties.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on developmental milestones and family needs.
Therapeutic Intervention
- Provide play-based, structured therapy to enhance grasping, hand-eye coordination, and sensory regulation.
- Utilize adaptive equipment to support daily living skills and independence.
Family & Caregiver Support
- Educate parents on sensory-friendly strategies, feeding techniques, and self-care routines.
- Provide guidance on assistive devices for fine motor development.
Collaboration & Advocacy
- Work closely with physical therapists, speech therapists, educators, and social workers to create holistic intervention strategies.
- Advocate for early intervention services and educate families on the importance of occupational therapy.
Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain accurate records of therapy sessions, progress reports, and treatment adjustments.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal early intervention regulations.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Education: Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT)
- Licensing: Valid OT license & certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Experience: 1-3 years in early intervention or pediatric occupational therapy preferred
- Skills: Strong knowledge of child development, sensory integration, and adaptive equipment
- Soft Skills: Compassionate, patient, and excellent communication skills
