Drafter / CAD Designer

Lifewater Engineering Co. is currently accepting applications for a Drafter or CAD Designer at our Fairbanks Location. We are seeking a hardworking, dependable, self-motivated employee who would assist the Mechanical Engineering Team in drafting tanks, piping, and electrical systems.

Must be able to work well as a team and independently. Overtime and travel will occasionally be required. Both in-house training and off-site training at conferences and courses will be provided.

Engineering

• Plan and prepare preliminary and detailed design models/drawings/renderings and bills of materials from engineering notes, sketches, other drawings, and/or conceptual ideas
• Efficiently design and draft the following using SolidWorks and Rhino 3-D software:
• • Single-wall and double-wall tanks with multiple penetrations and access hatches
  • Conex modifications
  • Wood framing
  • Water, Air, pumping and piping systems
  • Electrical line drawings
  • Boat hulls and appurtuences
  • Other products as required
• Produce shop drawings and detailed drawings for use by fabricators or clients
• Work closely with management, design team, and production staff to coordinate efforts maximizing efficiency of the fabrication and assembly processes
• Organize/maintain all revisions of project drawings, plot files, and project-related information in accordance with the company’s procedures
• Develop specs and material take off for cost estimates
• Program cut files for CNC machining

Minimum Qualifications:

• Motivated worker who can work well independently and as a team member. 
• Strong knowledge of SolidWorks is required, including:
• • Parts tree management and usage
  • Drawing scales as they relate to text, dimensions, lines, viewports, etc.
  • Creating solidworks drawings
  • Cross-sections and profiles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
• Hands-on fabrication experience (familiarity with shop hand tools and power tools) preferred
• Conscientious, organized, reliable, and capable of managing resources and schedules to meet deadlines
• Ability to work overtime as needed
• Three-plus years of relevant experience
• Technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter curriculum (preferred; BS in civil engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or structural engineering)

Working Conditions:

• Office environment – typical of normal offices
• Manufacturing environment – may be exposed to loud noises, changing temperatures, and/or machinery with moving parts
• Field environment – may include travel to remote sites in Alaska in any season of the year

Physical Requirements

• Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally, pushing, pulling, manual dexterity, and visual acuity.
