About this Role:
The Power BI Developer will support enterprise data analytics and reporting initiatives for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This role is responsible for developing interactive dashboards, automated reporting solutions, data visualizations, and business intelligence products that drive data-informed decision-making across mission-driven programs. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Power BI development, data modeling, SQL, and analytics within a federal or enterprise data environment.
The developer will collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, program stakeholders, and federal leadership to translate business requirements into technical solutions. The role requires experience working with structured and unstructured data, building data models, and optimizing Power BI performance. Experience adhering to federal data governance, security, and compliance standards is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
Dashboard Development: Design, develop, and maintain complex Power BI dashboards and reports that meet business requirements and provide actionable insights.
Data Modeling: Create and optimize data models, utilizing Power BI's DAX language for calculated measures and columns.
Integration: Work with various data sources (SQL Server, Azure Data Lake, Excel, APIs, etc.) to integrate data into Power BI.
Collaboration: Collaborate with business analysts, data engineers, and stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure the accuracy and relevance of the data presented.
Performance Optimization: Optimize Power BI dashboards for performance, ensuring quick load times and responsiveness.
Support: Provide support to end-users on Power BI, helping them understand the dashboards and reports, and how to use them effectively.
Governance: Establish and enforce best practices and governance standards for the use of Power BI across the organization.
Documentation: Create and maintain documentation for Power BI dashboards, data models, and processes.
Analyze, document, develop, and maintain custom SharePoint solutions in support of customers business requirements
Create and resolve ServiceNow support tickets.
Qualifications and Skills:
Must be able to obtain a public trust and be a US Citizen
5+ years of experience in data visualization, business intelligence, and specifically in developing Power BI dashboards.
5+ years of SharePoint Development, Administration, SDLC documentation, and including Required Skills
Experience with other BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Qlik) is advantageous.
Strong proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and Power BI Service.
Experience with data modeling, ETL processes, and working with large datasets.
Proficient in SQL and experience with databases such as SQL Server, Oracle, or Azure SQL.
Familiarity with Azure data services (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse) is a plus.
