Job Description

The Department of Biology and Geology at Baldwin Wallace University announces a tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2026. The Department seeks an individual with experience in teaching, mentoring, and research with a diverse undergraduate student body. A Ph.D. in biology or a related discipline is required. Successful candidates will teach botany, introductory-level major classes (cell and molecular), and specialized courses in their area of expertise, with a preference for a physiological aspect of plants. Candidates are expected to develop and conduct laboratory experiences with undergraduates, participate in curriculum development and assessment, professional development activities, university and departmental service, as well as faculty governance.

Founded in 1845, Baldwin Wallace University is an independent, coeducational comprehensive institution in the liberal arts tradition and is located 15 miles southwest of downtown Cleveland and just minutes from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Baldwin Wallace enrolls approximately 2,515 undergraduate students and 400 graduate students. The University offers a competitive benefits package, which may include funding for professional travel, summer grant opportunities, and tuition benefits for immediate family.

The search committee will commence reviewing applications on December 1 and will continue until the position is filled. Electronic applications are required. An application can be submitted at the HR Employment & Careers web page at https://www.bw.edu/employment. Candidates should submit a cover letter, curriculum vita, a statement of teaching philosophy, a statement of research interests that can be integrated at the undergraduate level, evidence of effective teaching, and contact information for three references. Unofficial transcripts and a representative selection of syllabi from courses taught, if available, should be included. These documents must be uploaded as a single file at the time of application.
